10 Tips to Improve Your Basketball Skills
Sports stars are often lauded by the media and their fans, but they’re not always praised for the right reasons. While it’s easy to overlook their humanitarian efforts, there are many athletes who devote much of their time to making the world a better place. Here are 10 amazing athletes who have helped out humanity in one way or another
#1 – The Coach
Studies show that people who regularly seek out support for both their professional and personal lives are happier, healthier, and more productive. For those of us in sales, there’s no shortage of coaches at our disposal. Our manager is always available if we want feedback or help on an account. There are our friends/family if we need advice or just someone to vent with. If you have trouble sleeping at night, try reaching out to your coach and see what they recommend. Even if you think they can’t help (or aren't actually your coach), it could be an important first step towards changing how you feel about yourself and others around you.
#2 – Michael Jordan
Talent Plus Determination Equals Success - Believe it! Visualize your performance. When you perform, visualize yourself winning at every point in your game. Never allow yourself to lose focus and let negative thoughts of doubt creep into your mind. If you do, erase those thoughts immediately from your mind by remembering that you have already visualized and planned for success. This is how you condition yourself mentally for peak performance. In basketball terms, it means envisioning a situation so that when it occurs during actual play, your response will be automatic because you have already experienced it in mind.
#3 – Yao Ming
When Big Meets Small (2011) (Documentary) 1h32m · by Louis Schwartzman, Jimmy Chin A documentary in which former NBA star Yao Ming takes on new challenges and explores his Chinese roots. After retiring from basketball, Ming moved back to China and began taking an interest in conservation efforts in his home country. #4 – Fernando Torres
The Five Ingredients of a Good Night’s Sleep: You might be surprised by what you read in today’s post. As anyone who’s ever had trouble sleeping knows, insomnia has many causes. And while some of these reasons may seem unusual, they make perfect sense once you realize that your body is built on millions of years of evolutionary trial and error. So here are my top five ways to get better sleep
#5 – Ronaldo
Ronaldo is my favorite soccer player, I like him because he is talented. Ronaldo has different skills in dribbling, passing, and shooting. All his powerful actions are simple but beautiful. On May 6th of 2018, Ronaldo scored more than 500 goals for Real Madrid in all competitions which means he is now the leading goal scorer of all time for Real Madrid. He did it in just 539 games at an average of 1.02 goals per game which makes him more than twice as effective as second-placed Raul (Cerezo) who took 741 games to score 323 goals and one hundred times more effective than Cristiano who needed 731 games to get 389 goals.
#6 – Derrick Rose
The key to my success is being healthy so I can stay on the basketball court. You don’t want to be one of those guys who has been playing for 15 years, still trying to get his legs back. So it all starts with health. You've got to keep yourself in shape, eat right and work out properly. But if you take care of your body and pay attention, I guarantee you will play well for a long time.
#7 – Novak Djokovic
He makes sure he gets enough sleep by going to bed early, sleeping at least 8 hours, and waking up naturally (no alarm clock). He also avoids TV before bed. (Also, did you know that tennis players get two extra minutes between points during tournaments? It helps them stay alert for longer).
#8 – Haile Gebrselassie
Breaking His Own Record With Every Marathon? Haile Gebrselassie, who just set an hour record of his own (with Zersenay Tadese of Eritrea), has been on an incredible marathon-winning streak. He was planning on running today in Shanghai but dropped out because he felt sick yesterday. So, you could say he’s making up for it today by winning his fifth Amsterdam Marathon title – even with a bad stomach.
#9 - Lebron James
2 hours, 45 minutes of sleep per night: It is no secret that he has been on teams with other stars (Wade, Bosh, etc.) and never really needed to score a lot of points. All of these guys were accustomed to getting their shots in different offenses and could survive without jacking up shots. When you only have three players on your team, it is necessary for everyone else on your team to at least be able to create their own shot.
#10 - Abby Wambach
Go in there, work
hard, do your best and let it all hang out. Wambach is one of those people who
has been preparing for her future since she was little. She played on boys'
teams growing up, fought for equal pay in college, and said goodbye to soccer
with an iconic gold medal at last summer's Rio Olympics. The most prolific
international goal scorer of all time had 525 goals in 528 appearances for her
country.
